Root Canal Therapy
When a cavity reaches the pulp (living tissues) inside a tooth, root canal therapy is used. To save the tooth, the severely diseased pulp is removed. The interior of the tooth is disinfected and then filled with special, medicated, dental materials to protect the tooth. A crown, bridge, or bonded post may be applied to restore full function.
If you have a bad taste in your mouth, a sensitivity to hot and cold foods and liquids, or are experiencing pain and swelling in your mouth, you may have an infected pulp. During this treatment, the canals of a tooth are cleaned and then sealed to prevent further infections.
