Meet Our Team

Dr. Ben Gullo – Dentist

Dr. Ben grew up in Perry, New York, a small village in Western New York where relatives still reside. He attended St. Bonaventure University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. From there he enrolled in The State University of New York at Buffalo receiving his Masters degree in Biology and later his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. After his formal education, Ben served two years in the US Navy as a dentist. Continuing education includes The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, Key Biscayne, FL; The Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry; also extensive courses in complex restorative, complex esthetic, endodontic and implant dentistry to name a few. Dr Ben came to Canandaigua and started in this very office in 1973.

Ben is a member of The American Dental Association, The Dental Society of the State of New York, The 7th District Dental Society, The Ontario County Dental Society, The Southeast Perio-Prosthetic Study Club, and The International Dental Study Club (past president). He was inducted into The Academy of Dentistry International, whose main purpose is to teach and do volunteer dentistry in third world countries. Ben has traveled to the Amazon River Basin in Brazil to participate in an ongoing dental mission.

Ben has been an active member of the community for more than 30 years serving on the Board of Directors of many organizations such as The Rotary Club of Canandaigua, which he is a past president, The American Cancer Society, The Wood Library, The Rushville Health Center and The Voluntary Action Center. He currently volunteers his services on a monthly basis to Canandaigua Churches in Action Supply a Smile Dental Clinic.

Ben, together with his wife Sharon, have five children, Greg, Fran, Sarah, Courtney and Jane; as well as seven grandchildren. He enjoys golf, fly fishing, reading and spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Greg Gullo – Dentist

Dr. Greg grew up here in Canandaigua and graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1989. After graduating, he spent one year in Belgium as an exchange student in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. After his year in Belgium, Greg began school at the University of Rochester where he majored in Political Science and Premedical Studies. After three years at the University of Rochester he was admitted early into the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1998 and then spent one year at Genesee Hospital as a resident in the general practice residency program. In 1999 he joined his father’s practice here in Canandaigua and he has been here ever since.

Greg has had advanced training in complex dental treatment as it relates to the temporomandibular joint and sleep apnea at the Pankey institute. He also has had advanced training from world class clinicians in the use of the surgical operating microscope for root canal treatment.

Dr. Greg is the past President of the International Dental Study Club, a Canadian-American Restorative Dentist association that focuses on complex dental topics. He is also a past President of the Canandaigua Rotary Club.

Dr. Greg has been to Africa three times to provide dental care to those who do not have access to a dentist. He also participates in the Supply a Smile dental clinic in Canandaigua. This clinic provides free dentistry to our community every month.

Greg and his wife Johanna have three children and enjoy family camping trips to the Adirondacks.

Barb – Dental Hygienist

Joining the practice in 2007, Barb has been a dental hygienist for over 20 years. She is married with 3 children. She is very active in their sports activities. In the spring and summer you can find Barb at the baseball diamond watching her son play baseball. In her spare time, (what spare time she does have) you can find her outside enjoying the nice weather, reading a book.

Martha – Dental Hygienist

Martha’s passion for dentistry started as a child working for her dad in his dental practice in Canandaigua. She has been a hygienist at Gullo Dental for 20 plus years. She and her husband have four children and several grandchildren. They reside in a log home they built in 2010.

Martha volunteers at Supply a Smile Dental Program, Free Smile Day, Special Olympics, and is a National Ski Patroller.

Joan – Dental Hygienist

Joan began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant and furthered it by graduating from dental hygiene school. She joined the Gullo practice in 1996, bringing with her 40 plus years of experience and a smile. She enjoys working part time here, as she volunteers much of her time.

Her passion is having fun while helping others. She does this in many places including countries such as India, South Africa, Brazil, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and other parts of the world. Following this passion led Joan to found the Supply a Smile Dental Program, which helps uninsured people receive dental care in our community.

Joan also enjoys pastoring Zion Fellowship in Canandaigua, alongside Chris, her husband of 41 years. They have 3 children and enjoy visiting with her grandchildren.

When you stop in to visit you might find her wearing sparkling brooches – just to make others smile! She can clean your teeth, make you a wedding cake, marry you and book your trip…she is truly “all inclusive.”

Bristol – Dental Assistant

Bristol is a lifetime resident of Canandaigua. She came to us as a dental assistant in 2015. She lives on the lake and enjoys swimming, boating, hiking, skiing, biking, and walks with her and dog Cooper. She is our resident “fashionista”.

Kassidy – Dental Assistant

Kassidy is our newest team member joining us in 2017. Her smile is contagious and her soft spoken manner will put you completely at ease. Kassidy enjoys baking and cooking on her days off.

Jill – Office Manager

Jill brings her contagious laugh to the Gullo practice for over 21 years. Always ready with a smile and encouraging word, she makes you feel comfortable even while having a root canal. Jill and her family enjoy camping and traveling to the Thousand Islands.

Megan – Dental Hygienist

Megan is a dental hygiene graduate from Monroe Community College, she has her NYS local anesthesia license. She has been a patient of Dr.Gullo’s throughout her childhood and genuinely looks forward to meeting her patients. She has a true passion for the profession. She currently lives in Rochester with her fiancé. They enjoy being out on the lake and spending time with friends and family!

Kim – Office Administrator

Kim has worked in the dental field since 1977. She joined our team as a dental assistant in 1990 and has since “worn many hats” in the office. You may find her at her primary position at the Front Desk or assisting one of the doctors. Kim brings a touch of levity to the office as she has quite a sense of humor and enjoys making people laugh.

Kim is married with three children. She and her husband Perry enjoy vintage cars and football. Kim also enjoys working in her flower garden and always has a remodeling project underway at home. The Adams’ also enjoy vacationing with friends.

Sandy – Office Administrator

Sandy has been with the office for over 28 years. She has an exceptional memory for names and faces and is a valuable asset to the practice.

Sandy and husband Phil enjoy traveling with friends. She is greeted every night by the boundless energy of her two black labs Brody and Brady. Sandy and Jordan are avid New England Patriots fans while Phil steadfastly supports the Bills.

Havilah – Dental Assistant

Havilah came to the office as a dental assistant in 2013. She enjoys hiking, gardening, and knitting. She enjoys remodeling her home and is adept with a hammer.

Your First Visit

As a patient of Gullo Dental, you should expect to be warmly welcomed and courteously treated as soon as you walk through our doors. We have coffee and tea waiting in our comfortable waiting area for you to enjoy.

When you arrive for your first visit, we’ll have some forms for you to fill out, our goal is to build a great patient/staff relationship. Please bring the following items along with you to make things easy on yourself.

  • Insurance information
  • A list of any medications you are taking
  • Current x-rays from a previous dentist (a signed release form will be needed)

At Gullo Dental, we strive to make the highest quality of dental care available to everyone. We will work with your insurance company by submitting and filing necessary forms. We want you to recieve the maximum benefit possible. If you are without insurance and are unsure of how you’ll pay for dental services, come see us anyway. We provide flexible payment plans through Care Credit, which is a private company, that enables you to spread payments out for months and in most cases without interest.

Digital Radiography

With digital radiography clear, detailed images appear instantly on our monitors. This technology allows us to quickly diagnose, treat and minimize exposure to radiation. Having your x-rays in a digital form also facilitates seamless communication with dental specialists.

Operating Microscopes

Dr. Ben and Greg Gullo are among the few general dentists in the western New York using operating microscopes. We believe that if you can see it better, you can treat it better. Operating microscopes enable us to view difficult-to-see regions in great detail. Which allows us to perform delicate and complex procedures with confidence and precision.
